VOL. 53 ISSUE 22 JUNE 7, 2016 P59 My Own Race: 94 KEN ROCZEN 450MX 1ST O/A (1-1) "My day was great," said 450MX-class winner Ken Roczen. "I'm never great in practice and went to the gate [having qualified seventh], but I'm never worried about that. I'm a rac- er and love to race. The first moto I got an awesome start, just shifted a gear and my bike pulled right up there, I was super-stoked to get the holeshot and just never looked back. I rode a smooth race. We went into the second race with a strong mentality. I didn't get a good start; I actually hooked a little bit with [Justin] Bogle and his elbowed clutched my bike. I tried to do some quick moves here and there, but at the same time I didn't want to rush because we had a lot of time to go. Overall, I can't complain, going 1-1 is a great thing. We're coming into a break which comes at a great time, because I believe that I have another level in me and we have some tricks up our sleeves to get even better on my part." 32 MATT BISCEGLIA 450MX 8TH O/A (10-10) "I couldn't have been much happier with the day," said Matt Bisceglia after his first ride in the 450MX as a fill-in rider for the Yo- shimura Suzuki Team. Both James Stewart and Blake Baggett sat out the weekend with injuries. "I've taken some time off the last few weeks, been going through some stuff, and came out here and put in some good practices and ended up taking 10th in both motos. I definitely had to fight for both of them. It was my first race on a 450 since my amateur days so I really couldn't be happier going 10-10 my first day. I have to thank the team for giving me the opportunity; I hope it lasts longer, but if it doesn't, I still can't thank them enough. It was a good weekend." 16 ZACH OSBORNE 250MX 4TH O/A (4-6) Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Zach Osborne had a strong performance at Thunder Valley, going 4-6 for fourth overall. "I got off to a decent start in the first moto," said Osborne. "I was sixth or seventh and worked my way into fourth. I tightened up a little bit and didn't ride that great toward the end of the moto but hung on for fourth. In the second moto I got tangled up with someone at the start and almost got dragged down but I came back to sixth. It was a good moto and I was passing people the whole time. It was a good weekend—I felt really good. I feel like I had great speed today and I could have done some damage in the second moto. I'll take my time with this week off and see what I can do at the next race at high point." 49 MARTIN DAVALOS 250MX 6TH O/A (7-5) Martin Davalos is get- ting better as the sea- son moves forward. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Team rider enjoyed his best day of the young season so far, going 7-5 for sixth overall. He ad- mitted afterward that he got a little tired in the second moto, which most likely had something to do with the track's mile-high elevation. "I got great starts this weekend," said Davalos. "I was able to put in a good first moto and a solid second moto. I got a good start the second moto. I was second then third for a while, but I ran out of energy a bit. I'm excited to take a weekend off in Florida and get recharged." 37 JOEY SAVATGY 250MX 1ST O/A (2-1) Joey Savatgy looked a lot like he did in the series opener at Hangtown when he went 1-1. A small tip-over in the first moto ruined what was otherwise a perfect ride for the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider. More importantly, he's back lead- ing the points race. "The weekend was great," Savatgy said. "In the first moto my start wasn't exactly what I wanted but I was able to get my speed where I think it should be, made some passes and got out front. Once I started to pull away a little I made a mistake and went down, remounted and brought it home for second. As for moto two, it went exactly how I wanted. I rode smart, my KX250F was perfect and I'm really happy with the results for the day and the championship."
