"It hasn't been getting any easier,
that's for sure. The first one [Phoe-
nix] seemed like a cake walk com-
pared to the last two," said Smith.
"They made me work for every ounce of
that, no doubt. Jared and Brad and Kenny
even got in there.
"You had to play cat-and-mouse, for
sure," added Smith. "I saw halfway and
after that the five-laps-to-go seemed to
come up fast. When you are racing like
that on the mile, it is just so much fun. The
next thing you know it's the last lap. It was
all right; I had it all mapped out. It went just
the way I had planned... I won, that was
the plan."

As the race developed, Smith, Mees,
