2016 ISLE OF MAN
TT GETS UNDERWAY
T
he 2016 Isle of Man TT
races have started and as
Cycle News closed for press on
Tuesday, May 31, it was current
Superstock TT Champion Ian
Hutchinson who so far has laid
down the fastest lap in practice.
The Bingley Bullet, switching
from Kawasaki to BMW machin-
ery for this year's TT festival,
scorched around the 37¾-mile
Mountain course at 129.964
mph, heading Michael Dunlop
(BMW) and current Senior TT
Champion John McGuinness.
However, all eyes have so far
been on current Superbike TT
Champion Bruce Anstey as he
debuts the Honda RC213V-S
MotoGP replica at the Island.
Ansety and the
ultra-exotic ma-
chine lapped at
a speed of 127.071 mph on the
first night of practice, with the
Kiwi noting there's plenty more
to come from the only RC213V-
S on the grid.
"It's pretty good, the V4
power is so smooth," Anstey
said to crash.net. "It feels like a
600 to ride but it's lighter than
a 600, it's so easy without even
having to try. Out of corners
it launches out so nicely. It's
surprising how stable it is," he
added. "We need a few tweaks
here and there but it's surprising
how good it is for a first lap."

T.E.A.M. DAY AT SUZUKI
Y
oshimura Suzuki's James Stewart was one of
the many Suzuki-backed motocross stars that
attended Suzuki T.E.A.M. Day at the company's
corporate offices in Brea, California, May 25. The
event was hosted mainly for the employees of
SMAI (Suzuki Motor of America, Inc), who were
given the opportunity to meet the racers, as well
as many of the race team personnel. They also
got to get a close-up look at the team rigs and
race shops. Some of the team's that participated
included the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing
Team, RCH Suzuki Factory Racing Team, MAD
Racing Yoshimura Suzuki Team and the Motor-
cycle Superstore Suzuki Team, among others.
The festivities capped off with a "slow" race,
where some of the factory racers competed on
Suzuki DR-Z125Ls, navigating a course as slow
as they could without putting their foot down. And
the winner was? Let's just say that it wasn't Ken
Roczen. CN
Hutchinson will
be out to rectify
his second place
in last year's
Superbike TT
on the BMW this
year.
Ken Roczen and Broc Tickle were pitted
against each other in the Suzuki "slow race."
Needless to say, neither made the final.
