MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 2 / MAY 28, 2016 SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA / GLEN HELEN RACEWAY P60 My Own Race: 37 JOEY SAVATGY 250MX 7 TH O/A (9-7) Joey Savatgy came into the race wearing the red plate (which signifies the current points leader) after winning both motos at Hangtown the week before. He was hoping to make a repeat performance but couldn't get the starts he needed to be a contender for the win. He rounded the first lap in both motos midpack. "Today didn't quite go our way," Savatgy said. "We started the day off on the right foot by qualifying well but couldn't quite get my starts dialed in, which hurt us in the long run. It's a long season and this is only one race of many, so I'm looking forward to rebuilding." 33 JOSH GRANT 450MX 6 TH O/A (6-6) A lot of people were expecting big things from Monster Energy Kawasaki's Josh Grant, who knows the Glen Helen track well, and he pretty much delivered. The local favorite qualified fifth and ended up with a lot of 6s on his scorecard, going 6-6 for 6th overall. He didn't get the best of starts (15th in the first moto and 10th in the second). "This is my local track and I always love it here," he said. "The track was pretty beat up today and it suited my style well. I'm really happy that I was able to come away with a 6-6 for sixth overall, and I've put myself in a good position in the championship heading into Colorado next weekend." 1 RYAN DUNGEY 450MX 1 ST O/A (1-2) After the race, Dungey focused on the championship, not just this race. "It was a good day in the big scheme of things, the points chase, we gained ground," Dungey said. "We got the overall which is a step in the right direction; obviously, Ken had some bike issues and it [the moto win] was gifted but we'll take it. It goes without saying that Ken is riding good right now, he's comfortable and has confidence in his bike. I feel like I'm riding good and that our set-up is right there; there are a lot of positives to take from today. I've been in this position before in the past; physically I can approve in areas and be better on the track. We have to fine-tune in certain areas." 21 JASON ANDERSON 450MX 4 TH O/A (2-5) For the second week in a row, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Jason Anderson finished out the day fourth overall. He had his best moto finish so far in the first moto, but like Dungey and Tomac, benefitted from Roczen's misfortune. "I was up front both practices and qualified third overall so my weekend was pretty good for the most part," said Anderson. "I got up to third in the first moto then Kenny had a little issue so I ended up second. I got up to third again in moto two but made a big mistake and couldn't really regroup after that. I still ended up fifth in that moto; 2-5 on the day isn't bad."
