ellow smoke clouded the air at Mugello as the
MotoGP grid formed up for 23 laps of one of
racing's finest circuits, as an army of Rossi fans–
the majority of a record crowd of almost 100,000—let
off their flares. Their hero was on pole position. The
sun was shining. It was his favorite track. What could
possibly go wrong?
