BOBBITT BLASTS AT CHEROKEE
NATIONAL ENDURO
R
ussell Bobbitt finally got the
race he has been wanting
all season. After finishing in
the runner-up spot at the first
three rounds, the FMF KTM-
backed rider took a convincing
win at round four of the Kenda
AMA National Enduro Series,
the Cherokee National Enduro
in Greensboro, Georgia, May
22. In what racers agreed was
a tough "old-school" national
enduro, the Cherokee put riders
through tight Georgia terrain and
fresh trail, an ideal site for Bob-
bitt's first win of the season.
"This is one of my favorite
races for sure, and this was one
of the best days I have ever had.
I knew I was going to win today
and I just made it happen," said
Bobbitt.
The KTM rider dominated a
tough pro class. He battled a
hard-charging Steward Baylor
Jr., pumped from his win at
round three in Louisiana. Bobbitt
won four of the six tests and
finished second in the remaining
two to take the victory.
"This race went flawless for
me," said Bobbitt. "I got second
in the first test; it was real dark
in the woods and kinda hard to
see. I won the next two tests.
Test four was one of my favor-
ites—fast with lots of jumps. I
won it and test five. In the final
test I just tried to keep my lead
and ride conservative."
In the runner-up position was
SRT KTM-backed Stew Baylor,
who wasn't going to make things
easy for Bobbitt. He stayed in
the hunt early on but really came
on strong in the last test with a
win.
"I felt good today, I rode tight
