general idea what position I was
in; I thought I was fourth or fifth,"
said Texter. "I thought I had Brad
for fourth and I came around and
they were pointing at me. I had
to look behind me, to see if they
were pointing at someone else. I
thought, 'Awesome, I'm third; I'll
take it.'
"All the mile races seem like
they take forever. It was just so
hot out and the track was very
technical," added Texter. "It was
really rough. I've never ridden
a mile that you had to finesse it
that much and just be smooth."
Henry Wiles just nipped Sam-
my Halbert for fourth. "I didn't
know if I was in eighth or sixth or
what," said Wiles. "I caught Brad
and passed him. I caught Jake
and passed him. I knew that we
had to be kind of up there, but
