WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 53 ISSUE 18 MAY 10, 2016 P77 brothers ever to both win AMA Supercross Championships of any kind. "I'm so speechless right now. That was the hardest 12 laps I've ever had to do in my entire life," Stewart said. "I can't thank the GEICO Honda team and my mom and dad [enough]. What I went through, me and my brother, it's been and up-and-down season for both of us. I felt like half of this championship is his. I'll be back next year in the 450cc class, and hopefully we can keep the ball rolling. All I know is I've got this number-one plate now and I just want to cry." CN 450SX 1. Ryan Dungey (KTM) 2. Jason Anderson (Hus) 3. Eli Tomac (Kaw) 4. Chad Reed (Yam) 5. Blake Baggett (Suz) 6. Broc Tickle (Suz) 7. Justin Brayton (KTM) 8. Trey Canard (Hon) 9. Cole Seely (Hon) 10. Justin Barcia (Yam) 250SX EAST/WEST SHOOTOUT 1. Joey Savatgy (Kaw) 2. Zach Osborne (Hus) 3. Malcolm Stewart (Hon) 4. Aaron Plessinger (Yam) 5. Gannon Audette (Kaw) 6. Colt Nichols (Yam) 7. Tyler Bowers (Kaw) 8. Christian Craig (Hon) 9. Luke Renzland (Yam) 10. Martin Davalos (Hus) over Savatgy. "I mean, my mechanic was letting me know on the pitboard, and for a little bit there, we were good," Savatgy said in regard to the 250cc West Champion- ship. "Hats off to Cooper. He did what he had to do, and I know what it's like to go through what he's going through. You can't take anything away from the guy. He's back-to-back champion for a reason. He's a bad dude on a dirt bike. But to end the series like this is unbelievable. We got off to a great start and there was nothing else that I could do. If we could've eliminated a few mistakes earlier in the year... I'm a little bit disappointed." Savatgy will undoubtedly be a favorite in 2017, but for this year, it was Cooper Webb taking the title despite his injured wrist. "It was definitely not easy, but we fought for it, and that's why we're up here," Webb said. "All the hard work during the season has definitely paid off. I wasn't going to let the injury set me back. Unfortunately, I had a crash, and I wasn't looking good there for a second, and I knew what I had to do. I'm just stoked to get it done." As far as the 250SX East was concerned, GEICO Honda's Malcolm Stewart came into the race with a 14-point lead over Webb's teammates Aaron Pless- inger and Jeremy Martin (the lat- ter of which was farther behind), but Stewart never left any doubt as to the result. He won the East heat race with ease, then fought his way through the muck for third place and was the first East racer across the line to take his first-ever title and make he and his brother, James, the first Cooper Webb clinched his second straight 250SX West title and did so racing with a broken wrist.
