SUPERCROSS ROUND 16 / APRIL 30, 2016 EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY / METLIFE STADIUM P56 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES My Own Race: 14 COLE SEELY 3 RD 450SX "That was really tough," commented HRC Honda's Cole Seely after fending off Ryan Dungey to claim third place in the 450SX main. "I'm happy with a third tonight. It was a good 20 laps. Once I got into second off the line, I was just trying to focus on Roczen and match his lines and pace but he was going so fast. I think he had the track pretty dialed and has a lot of confidence coming off of last weekend's win, so he ba- sically checked out. I was giving it everything I had and really had to put a lot of heart into those last few laps to hold off Dungey for third. It's great to be back on the podium, which is where I feel I should have been all season. Hopefully I can take this to Vegas and end the season back up here." 50 MALCOLM STEWART 1 ST 250SX "It's like, Whew!" GEICO Honda's Malcolm Stewart ex- claimed after taking a dominant win in the 250SX main event in New Jersey to cement his points lead heading into the season finale. "When I looked up on the board and I saw 14 points (his lead in the championship), it felt good! Last weekend, I think I focused on the points too much. This weekend I said, 'You know what? The points don't matter. I'm just going to do the best I can tonight.' And you know what? That's what I did and look where it got us." Even with his 14-point lead, the cham- pionship is far from over and the 250SX East class has been consistently unpredictable in 2016. "It's definitely a weight off my shoulders but anything can happen in Vegas. I'll cross my fingers and pray." 49 MARTIN DAVALOS 2 ND 250SX Following his win at the previous round in Foxbor- ough, Martin Davalos was determined to capture another victory, but had to settle for runner-up honors in East Rutherford. "I'll take a second," the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider said. "But I really wanted that win. I feel like Malcolm was just a little better than me tonight. I feel like I rode really consis- tent and I don't have any excuses. I had a good start and my bike worked really well. I'm pumped with how everything went. I was able to put in a solid 15 laps and end up with a second place finish. I'm pretty pumped overall." PHOTOGRAPHY BY HRC PHOTOGRAPHY BY SIMON CUDBY
