SUPERCROSS ROUND 16 / APRIL 30, 2016 EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY / METLIFE STADIUM P54 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES My Own Race: 3 ELI TOMAC 2 ND 450SX For the second time in a row, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac finished out the 450SX main on the second step of the podium. He's finally showing speed and, more importantly, consistency. "I can really say I like it here, [in New Jersey]," said Tomac. "I've had three podiums here in the past three years with my second place tonight. I had a really good day in practice, then my heat and semi didn't go exactly how I wanted, but I still felt good heading into the main event. In the main, I had to make a lot of passes in the first 10 laps but was eventually able to make a push for second. I did some exploring here and there for the right lines and ways around other riders, but I felt strong and am really happy with my result." 30 SHANE MCELRATH 4 TH 250SX Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull KTM's Shane McElrath has shown good consistency the last few races. For the fifth time in a row, McElrath finished in the top four after starting off the series going 22-10-18. Keep in mind though that he started the championship coming off an injury. Despite another strong perfor- mance, McElrath says he has set his goals higher now and wants more. " I know I should be happy with fourth because of how we started the season, but I am definitely hungry to get back up on the podium," said McElrath. "I am happy with my consistency the past several races, so hopefully we can do the same next week in Las Vegas and head into outdoors healthy." PHOTO BY SIMON CUDBY 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 7 TH 450SX Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin made the best of a bad situation. He qualified for the main via a second-place finish in the semis then nearly crashed right off the start of the main after tangling with another rider. He was 13th after the first lap but made some pretty good passes to get into seventh at the finish. "Coming off the start, another rider bumped into me and it caused me to lose my bal- ance and fly off the track," Musquin said. "I thought I was going to crash for a minute but I was able to save it and keep going. I'm really happy with the way I rode tonight, though, I feel like I was back to myself, and even though the results didn't show it, I'm happy with how the riding went."
