MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD
ROUND 16 / APRIL 30, 2016
EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY / METLIFE STADIUM

The 250cc Eastern Regional
Supercross Championship al-
most seems like the title that no
one wants to win. It started with
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's
Martin Davalos going 1-3 in
the first two rounds to lead the
points going into round three
in Toronto—where he failed to
show up, officially due to "per-
sonal reasons," but was actually
because of visa issues.
Yamalube/Star Racing Yama-
ha's Jeremy Martin took over the
title lead after Toronto with 4-1-2
finishes in the first three rounds,
but then crashes relegated him
to 13th and 21st place finishes at
rounds four and five.
These rounds are also where
GEICO Honda's Malcolm Stewart
and Martin's teammate Aaron
Plessinger caught fire, each trad-

himself out of contention a week
later in St. Louis, where he fin-
ished eighth and had his lead cut
to only one point.

mates Aaron Plessinger (second
in St. Louis, one point behind
Stewart) and Jeremy Martin (win-
ner in St. Louis, 16 points behind
Stewart with three rounds to
run), the two failed to capitalize
on the opportunity. In the two
rounds since St. Louis—both of
which were essentially "must
win" for Martin and "must fin-
ish in front of, or right behind,
Stewart" for Plessinger—Martin
has finished second and third
because of poor starts and
