DORNA FINED
D
orna Sports and two of its executives were fined millions of dollars for tax offenses related to the
sale of shares in 2003 and 2004.
The Spanish Supreme Court found that Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta and Enrique Aldama, chief
operating officer and chief financial officer, simulated the sale of shares to avoid paying income tax and
to receive undeclared dividends. The court's Division of Administrative Litigation ruled that Dorna Sports
S.L. (the commercial rights holder for MotoGP and World Superbike) sold shares to another company
owned by Ezpeleta and Aldama. The supreme court leveled fines of $4.38 million on Ezpeleta and
$3.01 million on Aldama. CN
ESLICK IN FOR FRENCH GP!
C
urrent TOBC Rac-
ing rider Danny
Eslick will fill in for the
injured Efren Vazquez
on the JPMoto Malay-
sia Suter in this week-
end's French Moto2
Grand Prix at Le Mans.
Eslick, fresh off 3-5
results in the Super-
stock 1000 class at
New Jersey Motors-
ports Park, credited
friend and current
Daytona 200 Cham-
pion Michael Barnes
for putting the deal
together that he hopes
will net a top-20 posi-
tion.
Speaking to Road
Racing World in New Jersey,
Eslick said, "This is a good
opportunity to go and see what
I've got against the best guys
in the world. I've done a few
other things [internationally].
Two years ago I went down to
Brazil and did their champion-
ship. I did some British [Su-
perstock 1000] stuff. The level
of talent there was solid, but
everyone knows I'm going to
have my work cut out for me [in
Moto2]. There's a lot of guys,
and the top 30 are all awesome,
all super fast with really good
teams. It's all going to depend
on how well I gel with the bike.
I've adapted pretty quickly to
some other motorcycles during
my career, so I don't see any
reason why we can't go figure it
out." CN
A good result in New
Jersey and now a fill-in
Moto2 ride. Things are
looking up for Danny
Eslick after a troubled
start to 2016.
