RUSSELL TAKES INAUGURAL CAMP

Cross Country (GNCC)
Series presented by Maxxis
headed for Society Hill, South
Carolina for the running of an
all-new venue, the CST Tires
Camp Coker Bullet GNCC at
the Moree's Hunting Preserve.
While it was a new location, it
was the same result on top of
the podium—Kailub Russell. The
KTM/FMF rider topped the field
after the re-routed race had to
also be shortened to two hours
due to heavy rains and a light-
ning storm in the area. Russell
took his third win of the season
ahead of Jordan Ashburn and
Thad DuVall. With Russell's win,
he has now officially outpaced
his rival Josh Strang in both wins
and points for the season.
The day started out well for
Strang; the Rockstar energy
Husqvarna Factory Racing/
Bel-Ray racer jumped out to the
early lead, claiming the $250 All
Balls Racing Holeshot Award.
With Russell stuck in a mid-pack
position, it was looking good for
Strang, but Russell showed why
he is a three-time champion by
slicing through the pack on the
opening lap and making his way
into the early lead.
"I knew I had to get around
the guys in front of me because
I could tell I was running out
of roll-offs," Russell explained.
"The guys were zig-zagging
through the track and I just
pinned it and went straight
through everything. It was sur-
real how fast I got around them
and pulled a lead. I was expect-
