fault. I lined up for the second
part, got a pretty good start
and then once Joe passed us
it seemed like he had a re-
ally good pace. I followed him
around for most of the race and
on the last lap he was pushing
hard and pulled a gap on me.
Then he kind of gifted me the
win and I couldn't be happier."
In the Superstock 600 class,
Bryce Prince (Riders Discount
Tuned Racing Yamaha YZF-R6)
took the race one win over Con-
nor Blevins (EMR Excel Racing
Kawasaki) with Dakota Mamola
(HB Racing/Meen Yamaha) in
third. For race two, Mamola
unable to make the grid. And for
99 percent of the race it looked
as though Roberts was headed
for his first win of the season
until he crashed on the final lap
and handed Petersen the win. It
was the South African's first-ever
success in the class on Ameri-
can soil. Petersen's teammate
Valentin Debise took second
with Beach in third.
"It was a tough race," Pe-
tersen said. "I knew that I stood
a better chance in these condi-
tions. The first part of the race
this morning before the re-start
was tricky. There was a lot of
standing water. We just had to
put that behind us (the crash)
Mamola held on
for his first win
on American
soil in the
Superstock
600 race two
encounter.
