SUPERCROSS ROUND 15 / APRIL 23, 2016 GILLETTE STADIUM / FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS P56 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES My Own Race: 3 ELI TOMAC 2 ND 450SX Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac showed signs of his old self at Foxborogh. Although he didn't qualify well (13th, almost a full two seconds off Dungey's time), he made up for it in the main event, where he finally got a good start. He got out of the gate in third, settled into second after passing Dungey and actually pressured Roczen a few times before backing off. Had Tomac passed Roczen and won, Dungey (who ended up third) would have clinched the title, but the Kawasaki rider was unable to do Dungey any favors on this night. "I rode like myself in the main event, made a few good moves in the first couple of laps and got in the mix early," Tomac said. "I felt really good on the track and was able to do a few rhythms different than anyone else which really helped early on. After the halfway mark I had to settle in a bit but overall it was a huge improvement and I'm really happy." 50 MALCOLM STEWART 3 RD 250SX GEICO Honda's Malcolm Stewart appeared to be on his way to his second win of the 250SX East after jumping into the early lead. At least many thought that, at least. "I think everybody [did]. I thought it myself, too," Stewart said. "Overall the day turned around for sure. It was real muddy in the morning and then obviously the change was amazing, for the heat race and how the race went. The track turned out dry. The heat race went good. Won that one and that was amazing. Then we went into the main event and I got the lead really quick. I started kind of pulling away a little bit. I think I started making a couple mistakes. The track got worse and worse and I think the mistakes, it was more of the track getting to me. I felt like you got to a point you couldn't even take the same lines every time. Fifteen laps, I think you took 15 different lines! I had to just ride, just ride my own speed. I made a few mistakes and I let [Jeremy] Martin and [Martin] Davalos get around me, but I settled down and got on the box." 41 TREY CANARD 5 TH 450SX HRC Honda's Trey Canard, once again, showed plenty of speed over the course of the day, but bad starts continue to haunt him. For the third time in the last four races and the fourth time this season, he finished out the main in fifth. "At least I'm consistent with those fifths." Canard said. "I'm definitely disappointed with not being on the podium again because that's what I was going for. I'm incredibly happy with the bike, the team is doing a great job and I've been riding pretty well, so I just need to execute everything better next weekend and put myself right at the front with those guys at the beginning. My start was better this weekend but still not what it needs to be. Overall, I just need to ride a better race, which sounds simple but that's all there is to it."
