GAJSER, HERLINGS AGAIN AT MEXICO MXGP
T
he FIM Motocross World
Championship headed to the
warm temperatures and high al-
titude of Leon, Mexico for round
five of the season where Honda
Gariboldi's Tim Gajser and Mon-
ster Energy Yamaha's Romain
Febvre once again duked it out
for the MX1 victory. In the MX2
class, it was business as usual
with Red Bull KTM's Jeffrey Her-
lings taking a dominant win.
Defending champion Febvre
was able to rebound from his
off-podium finish at the previous
round in Patagonia to card a 1-2
finish at the GP of Leon, but it
still wasn't quite good enough
for the overall. Gajser countered
with a 2-1 score, taking his third
win of the season. While the two
tied on points, Febvre was able
to preserve his points lead.
In the first MX1 moto of the
day, Gajser got out to a decent
lead but Febvre reeled him in
and made the pass to take the
win. In the second moto, it was
role reversal as Gajser led the
way with Febvre searching for a
way around him.
Third in the MX1 class went
to Max Nagl who rode to a solid
3-3 finish aboard his Rockstar
Energy Husqvarna.
In the MX2 class, Herlings
once again emerged victorious
while seeming to hardly break
a sweat. Like last season, it
appears to be is his champion-
ship to lose, but this year he is
showing a lot more maturity and
consistency.
Swiss rider Jeremy Seewer
used his consistent 3-3 finishes
to put his Team Suzuki World
RM-Z250 on the podium in
second. Young Russian rider
Vsevelod Brylyakov piloted his
Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki
to the best finish of his career,
claiming third with his 2-6 per-
formance. CN
