MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 3 / APRIL 10, 2016
CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS / AUSTIN, TEXAS
P52
ant this time was not his Ducati team-
mate Iannone, but a deeply remorseful
Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda), who
had quite lost it under braking up
Mount Marquez while trailing Lorenzo
and Dovi at the start of lap seven. Dani
apologized at the trackside, and again
at the Ducati pit. Dovizioso's only luck
was that the sliding Honda had not hit
his leg in what was a heavy impact.
British compatriots Cal Crutchlow
(LCR Honda) and Bradley Smith
(Monster Yamaha) crashed in close
formation, but independently, while
closing on fellow-Briton Scott Red-
ding (Pramac Ducati) a couple of laps
before half distance. Both remounted
to finish out of the points; ahead of
them Loris Baz (Avintia Ducati) had
also slipped off and got going again,
without losing as much time.
Marquez's win was his 10th in a row
on U.S. soil, counting also Moto2, the
52nd in his career, and (more impor-
tantly) his second in a row this year.
Third in Qatar gives him a full house of
podiums and the championship lead
by 21 points, almost a full race after
(Above) Valentino
Rossi's weekend ended
in this crash. He was
unable to continue.
