MOTOGP MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3 / APRIL 10, 2016 CIRCUIT OF THE AMERICAS / AUSTIN, TEXAS P60 closed steadily to snatch third from the German at the end of the straight. "I saw Phillip was not so far ahead. I just kept it clean and I knew I could take him on the last lap," said Binder, who retained a narrow championship lead. CN MotoGP 1. Marc Marquez (Hon) 2. Jorge Lorenzo (Yam) 3. Andrea Iannone (Duc) 4. Maverick Vinales (Suz) 5. Aleix Espargaro (Suz) 6. Scott Redding (Duc) 7. Pol Espargaro (Yam) 8. Michele Pirro (Duc) 9. Hector Barbera (Duc) 10. Stefan Bradl (Apr) second at two-thirds distance. His challenge was done, the first two places decided. It was the 20-year-old Italian's seventh win. The field was relatively spread out, and Fabio Quartaro (Leop- ard KTM) had come through, bringing Brad Binder's Red Bull KTM with him. They caught Quartaro by half distance and the Frenchman nipped ahead directly. Binder dropped a couple of seconds behind, blaming bad front-end chatter; Oettl stayed with the Frenchman and seemed to have a first rostrum in his pocket when Quartaro suddenly slowed with a gearshift malady. But the South African was waiting for his opportunity and Moto3 Race Rain-hit qualifying shuffled the grid, giving Phillip Oettl (Schedl KTM) a maiden pole, and putting title contender Niccolo Antonelli (Rivacold Honda) down in 30th. But it was second qualifier Jorge Navarro seizing the lead from the start, and putting up a convinc- ing attempt at a runaway—his lead approaching two seconds after just three laps. By now, Romano Fenati (SKY VR46 KTM) had taken second from Oettl, and he started to hunt down the EG Honda. Navarro made his pass easy, running wide into the tight turn one at the start of lap eight. The Spaniard stayed close, until the same error lost him more than a Winner Romano Fenati had room to spare in Moto3.
