WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 53 ISSUE 13 APRIL 5, 2016 P83
somehow came out of them like
he was being shot out of a can-
non; he held about a two/three-
second lead on Roczen for most
of the second half of the race and
eventually took the checkered flag
1.37 seconds ahead of Roczen,
who, after the race, said he had
some problems getting around
lapped traffic. Even Dungey said
the lapped traffic was heavy.
Anderson lost sight of the two
leaders early on and was never a
factor for the win, though he did
take third, but 15 seconds behind
Roczen. Reed was another two
seconds back in fourth.
The top four positions never
changed from the third lap on, but
Canard tried his best to change
that by mounting a last-lap charge
on Reed. He came up just short
and had to settle for fifth.
Bogle slipped back to sixth,
disappointed for having finished
more than half a minute behind
Dungey after nabbing the hole-
shot.
Even though Dungey has a
commanding points lead, he
showed at Santa Clara that he still
wants to win, but with his third SX
title well within his sights, it'll be
interesting to see how hard he'll
battle for wins in the future if he
finds himself in similar situations.
"It feels great to be back in the
center of the podium," Dungey
said. "I got a good start and just
tried to put the hammer down.
Kenny was right there the whole
night but we just tried to ride
mistake-free and it went well."
