SIDI AND THE HISTORY OF THE
MONO-FILAMENT CLOSURE
In 1966 Mr. Dino Signori (founder of Sidi) invented the first
ever screw adjustment system for the ski boots of the Italian
Olympic Champion Marielle Vautcel. In 1988, 22 years later,
he completed the now famous design, adding a nylon cable
turned by a rotor lever. He patented his rotor buckle and cable
system for use in a cycling shoe. The patent covers a rotor and
cable closure placed on the heel as well as on the instep.
In 1993 SIDI produced the first cycling shoe ever with a rotor
and monofilament line closure, refining and perfecting the
system in the Energy, Ergo and Dragon models. SIDI's new
Tecno-3 Push is the latest generation of rotor closures.
SIDI only patented the rotor buckle and cable system in Italy,
and after 20 years that patent expired. However with SIDI's
tremendous head-start it's no surprise that Sidi shoes lead the
pack in comfort, reliability and ease of use.
Sidi creates the first cycling shoe
with Adjustable Cleat Position
revolutionizing the shoe plate
fixing system.
Sidi introduces
nylon soles to the
cycling world.
Sidi uses the Velcro® strap
on cycling shoes for
the first time ever.
Sidi produces the
MTB shoe
with rubber sole.
Sidi invents and adopts for
the first time a closure with
a micrometric buckle, the
MICRO LOCK BUCKLE.
