HERFOSS TAKES ASBK
ROUND TWO
F
ormer AMA Supermoto
Champion Troy Herfoss
(Team Honda Australia) took
the overall victory during round
two of the Australian Superbike
Championship (ASBK) at his
home track of Wakefield Park
with 1-4 results, March 26-27.
The current Australasian
Superbike Champion (run as a
separate series to the ASBK)
has a new teammate in for-
mer Moto2 star Anthony West
and led home a Team Honda
1-2 in race one. The race was
stopped three times due to
separate incidents at
turn 10, but a large
multi-bike crash from
West, current ABSK
number one Mike
Jones (Ducati) and
Yamaha's Cru Halliday, caused
a complete reschedule.
When the dust settled, it was
Herfoss victorious in race one
and he looked to be on course
for a second win in race two
before running off the track and
finishing fourth behind race win-
ner Wayne Maxwell (Yamaha).
It was a dramatic return to form
for Maxwell, who had earlier
crashed out of race one.
The overall result for ASBK
round two saw Herfoss on top
ahead of West and Kawasaki
privateer Ben Burke. Herfoss
now leads the championship
with 95 points over Yamaha's
Glenn Allerton at 93 while Max-
well sits third with 80. CN
DELONG OUT WITH INJURY
A
ndrew DeLong, the 2014 AMA
National Enduro Champion, will
miss most (if not all) of this year's
championship after undergoing
surgery on his wrist, which he ini-
tially injured eight months ago.
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna
rider suffered ligament damage
while practicing but continued to
finish out the 2015 series despite
having strength issues with his
hand. In the recent surgery, the
damaged ligament was removed
and replace by one from his own
forearm.
DeLong was scheduled to com-
pete in both the 2016 AMA National
Enduro and GNCC Series. CN
Andrew DeLong underwent surgery on his wrist and will
miss most of the AMA National Enduro Series.
