VOL. 52 ISSUE 12 MARCH 29, 2016 P23
YZ250 to the podium ahead of
third-placed Osborne, who was
one of a contingent of Rockstar
Energy Husqvarna factory racers
at the event.
Osborne was in the mix for
the lead in the early laps, but
succumbed to arm pump and
couldn't fend off Ryan Surratt in
the first moto, but rebounded to
take second in the latter moto.
Surratt (3-4) and RJ Wageman
(5-6) rounded out the top-five
overall.
Glen Helen regular Sean
Collier was a force aboard his
trusty Kawasaki KX500, ap-
propriately taking the holeshot
in both motos. Collier was, as
always, a sight, as he muscled
the big 500cc two-stroke around
the rough Glen Helen course.
He rode to a 7-5 finish for sixth
overall in front of Husqvarna rider
Austin Howell, who took seventh
with a 6-9 performance.
Fresh off winning the FIM
SuperEnduro World Champion-
ship, Rockstar Energy Husqvar-
na's Colton Haaker rode to an
impressive top-10 finish (9-7 for
eighth overall) with TM-mounted
Stuart Edmonds of Ireland and
Kellian Rusk rounding out the
top-10.
Other notable race entries
were Mike Sleeter and Doug
Dubach who both had consis-
tent races, but did not break into
the top-10.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna
hosted both Mike Brown and
Timmy Weigand in the 125
Pro class, and they finished
fourth and fifth, respectively.
Many riders doubled up in the
Pro classes, such as 125 win-
ner Ryan Surratt. He took a 1-1
sweep aboard his Transworld-
backed Yamaha YZ125.
"It felt like I signed up for the
ironman class today doing four
20-minute-plus-1 motos today,"
Surratt exclaimed. His YZ250
barely went the distance in the
second moto on the demand-
ing Glen Helen course—Surratt
explained that the spark plug
melted to pieces but he was
still able to hang on for a fourth-
place finish in the 250 Pro class.
Yamaha riders dominated
the 125 Pro podium, with Justin
Hoeft and Robbie Wagemen fin-
ishing second and third, respec-
tively. CN
Rockstar Energy
Husqvarna's
Zach Osborne
got on the overall
podium with his
4-2 score.
Ryan Surratt pulled
double-duty, racing
both the 125 Pro
and Open Pro
classes, taking the
overall victory in
the 125 division
and narrowly
missing the podium
in the Open race.
