ALESSI TAKES 2-STROKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP T wo-stroke aficionados everywhere once again descended on Glen Helen for the annual MTA 2-Stroke World Championship presented by LA Sleeve. If the sheer fun factor wasn't enough, LA Sleeve put up 10,000 more reasons to come race. An $8000 purse for the Open Pro race and another $2000 for the 125 Pro race brought out a stacked field of riders, including a handful of Supercross racers who took ad- vantage of a break in the series to come race. Mike Alessi, Zach Osborne and Scott Champion battled it out for podium honors in the 31-rider Open Pro race with Alessi taking a 1-1 sweep for the big win. "I had a fun weekend and I want to thank boss man Mike Genova for letting me race his motorcycle today. It was a pleasure racing some badass racers," Alessi said. His winning race bike was a 2006 Suzuki RM250 built by MotoConcepts especially for Alessi to race at the 2-Stroke World Championship. Genova and Tony Alessi also prepped a matching 125 for Alessi to race, but the little RM didn't quite go the distance in the 125 Pro race. Champion and Osborne traded runner-up finishes in the two-moto format with Champion edging out Osborne for second with his 2-3 score.
