WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 53 ISSUE 11 MARCH 22, 2016 P57
W
inners and losers are meant
to be decided during compe-
tition, not afterward. There's
something about the finality of
seeing a racer in any sport take the
checkered flag first. Then there's
the celebration, the podium, and
the interviews.
However, for the more than
45,000 fans on hand for round
11 of the Monster Energy/AMA
Supercross Series at Ford Field in
Detroit, all of that was in essence
an illusion. When they saw Red Bull
KTM's Ryan Dungey pull ahead to
win by about 10 seconds, that didn't
really happen. Officially, Rockstar
Energy Husqvarna's Jason An-
derson took the victory in front of
Dungey's teammate Marvin Mus-
quin, with Dungey finishing third
despite crossing the finish line 10
seconds before Anderson.
Jason Anderson
got second but
won the race
in Detroit. He
was the big
beneficiary of a
penalty put on
Ryan Dungey.
