VOL. 53 ISSUE 11 MARCH 22, 2016 P29 Jacob Argubright (22 seconds behind) and Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Yamaha-mounted Jus- tin Morgan (another 30 seconds back). However, both would run into problems that dropped them back—Argubright smashing the clutch cover on a rock badly enough to warrant replacing it in the pits, and Morgan foiled by an apparent electrical gremlin that kept killing his engine. Argu- bright managed to fight back to 17th overall, 11th Pro/AA, while Morgan dropped to 51st overall and 15th Pro/AA. With those two no longer a factor, SRT's Graffunder gladly took advantage after a less-than- ideal start. "I knew I probably wasn't going to get a good start, but I thought [the four-stroke] would be better overall [here]," he explained. "I had to battle through the pack. I never ride out here so I don't know this area. It hard to push and be ag- gressive when you don't know if you're going to fly off a cliff." About an hour into the two- and-a-half-hour race, Graffunder found himself in second, but there was no catching Burson while Coy also shadowed Graf- funder, staying within striking distance in third. It marked the first podium finish of the season for last year's series number two who said, "A few of the guys made mistakes early, like Cory and I think Axel [Pearson] so I was able to get by them. Cory got me back, but all in all it was a good race; I'm happy with where I finished. So far, this year's been tough for me so to get back up on the podium, I'm super-happy." Purvines Racing Beta's Pear- son finished fourth after a crash or two followed by Alex Dorsey, Kudla, Justin Bonita and Ryan Smith. Justin Sanders and Vet A winner Quinn Cody rounded out the top 10 overall. Mark Kariya One of the best races of the weekend saw Tyler Kipp (left) come back from injury to top the Pee Wee class, though he had his hands full fighting off a determined Betsy Edwards. Dante Olivera won the FMF Pro 250 class for the second time this season, giving him a few more points over Max Parker, who finished third at Gorman.
