I
n a wild finale Rockstar Energy
Husqvarna's Colton Haaker
ended his debut season in the
FIM SuperEnduro World Cham-
pionship in the best possible
way. After a heated showdown
with Factory KTM's Cody Webb
in the final of three heat races,
Haaker emerged victorious and
claimed his first SuperEnduro
World title.
"Incredible! Absolutely incred-
ible to be the new world cham-
pion," Haaker said. "It was all or
nothing on that final lap and I'm
just lost for words right now."
Haaker came into the Spanish
GP, the final stop of the six-
round championship in Madrid,
only one point out of the lead.
While everyone expected to see
a faceoff between Haaker and
points leader Jonny Walker, the
first heat race started to turn the
tables when Walker suffered a
sub-par seventh-place finish.
Webb, on the other hand, boost-
ed himself back into champion-
ship contention by taking the
SuperPole. Webb finished right
behind third-place Haaker in the
opening heat while defending
champion Taddy Blazusiak won,
followed by KTM rider Alfredo
Gomez.
In the second outing, Webb
struck back with a big win,
somehow managing to gain the
early lead despite his second-
row starting position. Haaker
carded second which set the
stage for a final race shootout
for the championship.
Despite a bad start for Haak-
er, he soon found himself out
