SUPERCROSS ROUND 11 / MARCH 19, 2016 DETROIT, MICHIGAN / FORD FIELD P70 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull KTM's Justin Hill will have three weeks to rest up from the concussion that he suffered during practice at Detroit. Luck- ily for him, the supercross series takes its one and only break over the Easter holiday and the next race in Santa Clara, California, is a West event. His team says they'll re-evaluate his injury just pri- or to the next East round (Indianapolis). Despite having the Detroit win pulled out from under him, Ryan Dungey doesn't have a whole lot to worry about in the championship, at least at the moment. He still enjoys a comfortable 39-point lead over Ken Roczen, who has been struggling this season with his consis- tency. Jason Anderson is still within striking distance of Roczen in third, he's now 14 points back. And Eli Tomac is 14 points behind Anderson in fourth, but Marvin Musquin is climbing his way up fast. He's now in fifth, eight points behind Tomac and five points ahead of Cole Seely. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Chris- tophe Pourcel chose to sit out the De- troit round. Pourcel is still nursing a neck injury. He posted on Instagram (included an x-ray of his neck): "Doctors orders to sit this one out, but we are hopeful for a return in Santa Clara. I fractured a large piece of my C3 vertebrae in a practice crash last week and it needs more time to heal. That's what extreme whiplash looks like. I want to thank my team and sponsors for supporting me through this time and can't wait to be back racing soon." Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stewart also chose to sit out the Detroit round to let his back heal from his Daytona crash. This will give him another couple of weeks to get better without missing another race. My Own Race: 49 MARTIN DAVALOS 5 TH 250SX Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Martin Davalos was hoping to earn back some of the points he lost for having to sit out last week's round in Toronto. After finishing second in his heat race, Davalos was involved in the first-turn altercation in the main. At one point in the race, Davalos was running 15 th (on the fourth lap) but poured on the gas and made his way up through the pack to fifth. The former points leader is now fifth in the standings, 19 points behind leader Malcolm Stewart. There are still five rounds left in the East championship. "I felt like I rode with a lot of heart," said Davalos, "but I was still a little dis- appointed. I didn't get good starts. I couldn't find traction and, unfortunately, it got me caught up in the back of the pack. I fought my way back through the pack and got up to around fourth, but then got caught up with a rider and crashed and was put back to almost last. I was able to fight back to fifth, though. This definitely isn't over yet." 94 KEN ROCZEN 6 TH 450SX RCH/Soaring Eagle/ Jimmy John's Suzuki's Ken Roczen started off the main event in 12 th but made up six positions. He admitted that the track, especially the whoops, gave him some grief on this night. "My night wasn't very good," Roczen said. "It was kind of a long week. We started off Saturday morning pretty good but the track changed as the day went on and got a lot drier. It seems like we struggled in the whoops. We had a pretty decent heat race. Going into the main, we definitely didn't have the start we wanted. It just seemed like I got stuck behind [Weston] Peick. Normally the whoops are my strong point and we were definitely struggling in that part of the track. I'm ready to put this one behind me but I hope everyone who came out from Soaring Eagle had a good time. We have an off weekend coming up so I'm glad to be healthy. I'm going to do some moto testing and come back to Santa Clara strong." 450SX 1. Jason Anderson (Hus) 2. Marvin Musquin (KTM) 3. Ryan Dungey (KTM) 4. Chad Reed (Yam) 5. Eli Tomac (Kaw) 6.
