KTM ADVENTURE 390
IN ADVANCED TESTING
T
here is exciting news brew-
ing in the Far East for adven-
ture riders who are eager to get
their hands on a small-middle-
weight adventure bike. KTM is
currently in India advance-test-
ing its 200 and 390 Adventure
models but it is undetermined as
to which will be offered first.
One of the two models is
expected to launch in India in
April or May of 2016. Arrival in
the United States could come
as early as October but no dates
have been confirmed. We would
go so far as to say we only
expect to only see the 390cc
version here in the U.S., if and
when KTM offers one stateside.
According to Autoblog, the
KTM 390 Adven-
ture will utilize
an entirely new
platform suited for an adventure
motorcycle but will be powered
by the same engine utilized
in the 390 Duke and RC390,
which currently produces 42.9
hp and 25.8 lb-ft of torque.
Visually the KTM 390 Ad-
venture takes design cues
from its bigger brother the 1190
Adventure. The 390 Adventure
features the same distinct KTM
headlight, body fairings, tall
side mount exhaust and off-road
tires. We can expect the 390
Adventure to come with long
travel suspension and potentially
ABS, as the current year RC390
and 390 Duke are available with
this option.
The KTM 390 Adventure will
compete directly with Royal
Enfield Himalayan if both are
brought to the United States.
Sam Bendall
The 390 Adventure is will
draw its styling from the
1190 Adventure here, but
will be far more accessible
to new riders.
