SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD ROUND 10 / MARCH 12, 2016 TORONTO, CANADA / ROGERS CENTRE P74 Justin Hill (36), here leading KTM/ TLD teammate Shane McElrath, collected his first 250SX East win of the season. 250SX HILL STEPS UP With the 250SX points leader, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Martin Davalos, failing to make the trip to Toronto under dubious circumstances, he had to hope for some major bad luck for his closest championship rivals Jeremy Martin (two points behind going into Toronto), Malcolm Stewart (five points behind), and Justin Hill (seven points behind) in order to keep him in the championship chase. And as the race got going, they almost completely obliged him, as Stewart attempt- ed to repeat his controversial move from his heat race, off the start, only to run into Mon- ster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's very solid Tyler Bowers, which sent Stewart careening in the wrong direction, eventually leading to his bike tangling with Martin's YZ250F, the momentum of which sent him out into his teammate Aaron Plessinger (effectively taken out off the start by Stewart in both their heat and the main event). With Martin, Plessinger (fifth in points coming into Toronto) and Stew- art down in turn one, it was as if Davalos had almost bowled a strike. The only man unac- counted for was Justin Hill. Hill was fastest all day in Toronto, and he started out in fourth place and found his way into the lead by the fourth lap. This spelled bad news for Davalos, but things would get worse for him, as Martin went on a tear that saw him, remarkably, recover from crashing in turn one to take second place (from Matt Bisceglia) on lap nine out of 15. Hill took a seemingly easy win by over 20 seconds ahead of Martin and Bisceglia, and even Stewart managed to make it all the way back up to sixth. Now, Davalos is looking at a 20-point deficit behind new points leader Martin if he wants to win the 2016 250SX East with six races to go.
