BRIAN LUNNISS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT
AWARD ANNOUNCED
M
echanix Wear Racing is honoring former
motocross tuner Brian Lunniss with the Brian
Lunniss Lifetime Achievement Award.
"Brian is the epitome of the award," Ted Abdon
Director of Mechanix Wear Racing said. "We want
to give back to those people in all forms of rac-
ing who have helped us make the best products
for mechanics. When you put his name on it, his
success, his determination, his drive; you know
exactly why that person is getting the award."
Lunniss has tuned motorcycles for many moto-
cross and supercross champions, including Bob
Hannah, Ricky Johnson, Donnie Hansen and of
course, Damon Bradshaw. In 1998, Lunniss
changed gears and went into four-wheel rac-
ing, joining the IndyCar Series as a suspension
technician for Dan Gurney's All American Rac-
ers Team. A year later, he moved to NASCAR
and the Joe Gibbs Racing Team where he won
a NASCAR Championship with Bobby Labonte
in 2000.
Mechanix Wear already offers a prestigious
award in NASCAR—the Most Valuable Pit Crew
Award. And now the company feels it's time to
recognize some of the unsung heroes in moto-
cross/supercross with the Brian Lunniss Award,
which will be reserved for motorsport mechanics
who demonstrate remarkable achievement during
their career.
Mechanic Wear says: In the sport of racing,
you won't find too many awards beyond the driv-
ers, owners and crew chiefs. The Brian Lunniss
Lifetime Achievement Award is dedicated to the
hardest working hands in racing. The unsung he-
roes of motorsports. Those who possess excep-
tional drive and inspire the team to win. CN
