SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES ROUND 9 / MARCH 5, 2016 DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA / DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY P60 BTO Sports KTM's Davi Millsaps revealed on his Twitter account the day after the Daytona race that he suffered broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung when he fell with about a lap left at the Daytona Super- cross. Millspas tweeted: "Just a little update. I ended up breaking 3 ribs and severely bruised and partially col- lapsed my lung and [there] was some bleeding around it but other than that I'm great." Millsaps was having a strong ride and was holding down seventh place when he went down. It's been a tough season so far for the BTO team. They started off the year without Andrew Short who was recov- ering from a pre-season injury. When he returned he suffered a concussion that has him sidelined again. Plus, the team had much of its equipment stolen last month. Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stew- art had another bad night. He suf- fered a bizarre crash when he got out of shape in a whoop section and then grabbed a handful of throttle that caused him to loop out. The bike land- ed on top of him with the handlebars nailing him in the back. He was in ob- vious pain but eventually got back on his bike and rode back to the pits. He never returned. The team said that he suffered "deep bruising" and hopes to ride the next race in Toronto. After recently announcing his retire- ment, Nick Wey slipped back into his boots and helmet after getting the opportunity to take the spot left by Team Tedder's Jake Weimer, who moved over to the RCH/Soaring Ea- gle/Jimmy John's Suzuki Team when Broc Tickle got hurt. Wey made his debut on Team Tedder/Monster En- ergy Kawasaki Team at Daytona. Un- fortunately, Wey didn't make the cut but will be back for the remainder of the series. 450SX 1. Eli Tomac (Kaw) 2. "Today was bet- ter, but I still didn't finish where I would've liked to," the HRC Honda Team rider said. "All in all though, I think it went pretty good and I'm happy to finish inside the top 10 and be leaving healthy, considering the season I've been having. I really think I just raced better today overall. I felt good in the main event was able to regroup after almost going down in the whoops, to still finish strong. I wasn't a huge fan of the track, and I don't think many guys were; it was just too tight and there wasn't a whole lot of room to make passes. I can't complain too much because we all had to race the same course." 14 COLE SEELY 10 TH 450SX It was a rough day for Cole Seely in Daytona. He went down in the first turn, then had to work his way back up. Luckily, the race's ex- tended length afforded him enough time to catch up to 10th. "It was a rough day for us, all around," Seely said. "I was struggling in practice and transferred through the semi, so I had a horrible gate pick. During the main event I was involved in a first-lap pileup that banged up my bike and me a little and left me pretty much dead last. I was able to charge from 21st to 10th by the end of the race, which was good but definitely a challenge since this track wasn't great for passing. Thankfully this race is longer than normal and it gave me more time to move up as much as I could. It's definitely tough getting back into the groove after going down."
