CAN'T SPLIT LANES IN COLORADO YET
C
olorado's effort to make lane splitting legal for motorcyclists died on an 8-5 vote of the Transporta-
tion and Energy Committee of the legislature.
Sponsor Gordon Klingenschmitt (R-Colorado Springs) told the Colorado press he was pleased
the bill received as many positive votes as it did. Two major opponents of the bill were the committee
chairman, Max Tyler (D-Lakewood) and the Colorado Highway Patrol. They claimed that not enough
evidence was available to demonstrate that lane splitting is safe. CN
FAITH SWEEPS NEBRASKA ARENACROSS
A
MSOIL Arenacross
kicked off the second
half of the 2016 season on
Saturday with its debut from
the CenturyLink Center in
Omaha, Nebraska, March
5. Just two rounds re-
mained until the cutoff for
the Race to the Champion-
ship entering the evening.
The Race to the Champion-
ship will pit the top 10 riders
in the standings in a playoff-
style showdown to become
the first recipient of the
Ricky Carmichael Cup.
In front of a large group
of family and friends, Team
Babbitt's/Monster Energy/
AMSOIL Kawasaki's Gavin Faith
completed a flawless night at
his hometown race, once again
sweeping the main events to
take his second straight overall
win and extend his lead in the
Arenacross-class point stand-
ings.
In the Western Regional Aren-
across Lites class, TZR/Wood-
stock KTM's Cody VanBuskirk
raced to his second consecu-
tive victory, inching closer to the
championship lead.
Before the main events got
underway, Faith made the first
statement of the evening by
defeating his Team Babbitt's
teammate Jacob Hayes for the
win in the RMATV/MC Head-2-
Head Challenge. That triumph
gave Faith an extra champion-
ship bonus point.
When all was said and done,
it was another all-Babbitt's po-
dium, with Hayes taking second
(5-2) and Chris Blose third (4-3).
KTM rider Travis Sewell was
fourth (3-4), while Ben Lamay
(Honda) rounded out the top five
(2-5). CN
Gavin Faith won both main events at
the Omaha Arenacross.
