Both Sofuoglu and Krum-
menacher managed to extricate
themselves from a remarkably
combative and long train of lead-
ing riders nearer the end of the
18 laps, but as the rain started
and stopped, to not a huge
effect, Krummencaher's team-
mate Sofuoglu felt his rear tire
go and he fell midcorner, in the
lead with three laps to go.
"I had to push or the others
would have been coming, but
when I went over Lukey Heights,
I saw I had a big gap," said
Krummenacher of his eventual
race win. "I just had to manage
the last two corners to bring it
home. It feels great to win, unbe-
lievable."
He is the latest in a long line of
former Moto2 riders heading to
the WorldSBK or WSS paddock.
Behind, after all the sort-outs
and several incidents, Anthony
West looked like he may finish
second on his Tribeca Racing
Yamaha, but it was down to
19-year-old rookie Federico Cari-
casulo to take his Bardahl Evan
Bros Honda to second, by the
merest margin from wild carding
West in third.
West had stated from 13th
place, and in his home-brewed
team, he made progress, got a
"drop two positions penalty" and
lost two positions anyway. Chris-
tian Gamarino was right behind
West, and PJ Jacobsen's official
Honda WSS team machine fifth,
having been up front for a while.
There had been 11 different
leaders over the incredible 18
laps. CN
