WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
R
yan Dungey was in the
right place at the right
time to snatch a sure
victory from his Red Bull KTM
teammate, Marvin Musquin,
inside a packed (61,683) Geor-
gia Dome. Musquin kept the
reigning Supercross champ at
bay for 19 flawless laps in the
20-lap 450SX Main event, but it
all came apart when Dungey re-
ceived an inadvertent assist from
the most unlikeliest of lappers—
two-time Supercross Champion
James Stewart. Stewart, who
doesn't have much experience
in the fine art of being lapped,
was a factor in Musquin's last-
lap lapse in concentration and
consequent bobble, although
certainly not intentionally.
Chad Reed rode his factory
Yamaha to a solid third place.
With Atlanta being round one
of the 250SX East division, there
was a new cast of players, with
some old names near the top.
Class veteran Martin Davalos
led every lap on his Rockstar
Husqvarna, while a disappointed
Malcolm Stewart settled for
second on his GEICO Honda
and second-generation fast guy
Aaron Plessinger rode to third
on a Yamalube/Star Racing
Yamaha.
