DUNLOP OFFERING $7500
CONTINGENCY AT DAYTONA 200
T
his year marks the 75th
running of the Daytona 200,
and Dunlop Motorcycle Tires is
celebrating by offering a $7500
contingency for the race, hosted
by the American SportBike
Racing Association. Dunlop has
a long and storied history of sup-
porting the Daytona 200 along
with an enviable win record, and
the Dunlop road race crew will,
once again, be on hand offering
rider services throughout the
weekend of racing.
To qualify for Dunlop contin-
gency at this year's American
Sportbike Racing Association-
sanctioned Daytona 200,
riders must purchase their tires
from Dunlop at the event, must
compete on Dunlop tires front
and rear, and must display
Dunlop-provided stickers on
the front fender and lower fair-
ing.
The Daytona 200 is sched-
uled for March 12. CN
AMA TO SANCTION THE DAYTONA 200
T
he AMA has announced that it will sanction
the 75th running of the Daytona 200 on March
12 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona
Beach, Florida.
"Without a doubt, the Daytona 200 is a historic
motorcycle race, known not just by American
riders but by riders around the world," said AMA
Director of Racing Bill Cumbow. "Indeed, with
an AMA sanction, international riders governed
by non-U.S. motorcycling federations can more
easily secure the start permissions they need to
compete at this storied event."
The American Sportbike Racing Association
event is a standalone premier American road
race. While the 2016 Daytona 200 is not part of
the AMA-sanctioned professional road racing
series in which riders earn points toward an AMA
National number-one plate, it remains an impor-
tant part of America's motorcycle racing heritage.
In 2016, the 57-lap, 200-mile endurance race
on the 3.51-mile road course will feature modified
600cc sport bikes. CN
The AMA will sanction this year's Daytona 200.
