WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 53 ISSUE 8 MARCH 1, 2016 P51 18 DAVI MILLSAPS 4 TH 450SX Davi seemed surprised at how well he did, consider- ing his physical condition. "My thumb was really bad. I hurt it in San Diego, didn't ride the next week and going into last weekend I had to deal with that. Then when I got home from Dallas, I got a gnarly sinus in- fection that went into my ears and my throat. Tonight was really bad for me, healing-wise and I didn't ride all week for two weeks in a row now. Tonight I didn't have the stamina or looseness that I wanted, but all in all, I'm pumped to walk away with a fourth, with how I felt. I had no more laps in me…if I had to do one more, I'd be pissed." 50 MALCOLM STEWART 2 ND 250SX Malcolm is full of confidence as he heads into round two and why not? "The day was great. Practice was good, the heat race went pretty good. In the main event, Martin charged really hard the first couple of laps and I took a few laps to really get going. We were doing alright, sitting in second, catching Martin and I hit the ground. I don't know who I hit; I didn't even see him. I saw a yellow flag and it was kind of blind over that dragon's back and I saw a flagger on the right and didn't think too much about it. I came around and hit him; it is what it is. I got back up and charged the best I could, I caught Martin towards the end, but I ran out of time. I'm happy because I could have thrown the race way worse than what it was and I could have got hurt. First place loser, it's not a bad thing. Last season I started out 22nd, this season I'm starting out second. We're in this for the long run." 53 TYLER BOWERS 8 TH 250SX Tyler Bowers did not have the best night and admitted that Mitch wasn't very happy with his performance. "I didn't feel very comfortable on the bike the whole day. I knew I was gonna be behind the ball on the training coming into it, but I was ready for that. In the main event, I got off to a decent start and worked up into third, but I blew my wad a little early. I put on the fade and dropped back to eighth place. It's not what I wanted, but close to what I expected. I didn't expect to win it, like I said, I wasn't prepared enough. I'm a little disappointed, but it could have been a lot worse. I'm leaving here, not on the ground and I'm not hurt. I haven't raced in over a year, so now I've got one under my belt. So I'm a little happy with that and I'm ready to go race the next few rounds."
