P102 50 Years Ago March 3, 1966 We covered the Four Aces M.C.'s Moose Run desert race, which was already an annual event (which still runs to this day), and it was a battle among Dick Vick, Bob Ferro and Eddie Mulder, who eventually slowed because of badly blistered hands. Vick went on to win the race over Ferro… Indoor racing on concrete in Long Beach was still the buzz and Eddie Mulder won again, making front-page news… We printed a story about a minister, Rev. Robert E. Sanders, in California who used two wheels as a means of transportation. 40 Years Ago March 2, 1976 Somehow we managed to get our South Bay-modified CZ test bike on the beach of Southern California for a quick pose… We ran a test of the Husqvarna 360 Automatic. Author Jim Gianatsis was impressed with the bike and said it "is very definitely the dirt bike of the future."… Bob Hannah continued to wreak havoc in Florida, winning the latest round of the Florida Winter-AMA Series at Gatorback… We tagged along during a photo shoot for Peter Starr's latest film The All American Race. 20 Years Ago February 28, 1996 Our preview of the 1996 Daytona Camel Motorcycle Week was featured in Cycle News 20 years ago, which included our predictions for the AMA Superbike National Championship. Who was our number-one pick? Miguel DuHammel. We went out on a limb predicted that Scott Parker would win the GNC Championship. We also featured interviews with Honda's Gary Mathers, racers Joe Kopp, Steve Crevier, Dale Quarterly, and Mat Mladin… We also sampled Kawasaki's newest Vulcans… Rich Oliver won the opening rounds of the Sunoco Race Fuels Formula USA Series at Willow Springs. Also on the cover was Larry Roeseler who won the latest installment of the D-38 King of the Desert race in San Diego county… Rick Johnson won the AMA Nippondenso Supercross Series round in Atlanta… Earl Roloff captured his first Formula USA race at Willow Springs, while Doug Toland clinched the Kerker Superbike Championship.
