MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD
ROUND 5 / FEBRUARY 6, 2016
UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX STADIUM / GLENDALE, ARIZONA

I
t really was just a matter of
time. We all knew than Ken
Roczen was capable of win-
ning, but when? That was the
real question. Turns out, it was
five rounds into the series. The
RCH/Soaring Eagle/Jimmy
John's Suzuki rider finally put
everything together—mainly a
good start—and nabbed his first
win of 2016 and his first since
January of 2015 (Anaheim 2).
Roczen got out in front early,
took full advantage of a rare bad
start by Ryan Dungey, and held
off the advances of Eli Tomac
to get the well-deserved win in
front of 53,055 supercross fans
at the University of Phoenix Sta-
dium, home of the NFL's Arizona
Cardinals. It was supercross'
first visit to the massive stadium
that is only 10 years old.
The largest crowd of the year
also got to see another rider
get his first win of 2016, and
that was Christian Craig in the
250SX West Main, but it was
the first ever victory for the
24-year-old Californian, who
actually hung up his boots at
the beginning of 2013 but came
back midseason last year. It was
also GEICO Honda's first super-
cross win in the 250SX (West
or East) class since March 21,
2015, when Justin Bogle won
the 250SX East Main in Detroit.
