IN THE WIND P34 TRAVIS PASTRANA ON NITRO WORLD GAMES T ravis Pastrana and his crew of miscreants have an- nounced the next venture in the Nitro Circus enterprise, the Nitro World Games. The Nitro Circus has teamed up with NBC Sports and the Utah Sports Commission to bring "the biggest and most revolutionary action sports com- petition of all time" to Salt Lake City, Utah this summer. The Nitro World Games will feature athletes from a variety of action sports including freestyle motocross, BMX, skate and more. The Nitro World Games re- flects Travis Pastrana's view on what an extreme sports compe- tition can (and should) offer. The Nitro World Games intends to of- fer athletes the ultimate opportu- nity to display their most unique and extreme stunts in a safe environment, and also promises to engage fans in new ways. "[I've had] the opportunity to ride with the best in the world on the Nitro Circus Live tour, and it kills me seeing how much bigger these guys go on our custom ramps in my back yard than they can at the biggest action sports events in the world," Pastrana commented via Instagram. "So we came to the conclusion that it's our obligation as a company to take everything we have learned from ramp design (amplitude) and [air]bag/resi landings (safety) and hold a competition. We want these athletes to push well past previous limitations but do it in a way that is safer than ever before. "If you feel you have what it takes to compete, you will be given a chance to qualify. No selection committee politics. If you are the best, you will have a chance to prove it in Utah." Pastrana added that there is much more information to come on the Nitro World Games quali- fication process. Among the competitions that will offer gold medals are FMX and FMX Best Trick categories. "To answer some of your questions, Yes… Josh Shee- han's triple-flip ramp will be there for best moto trick," Pastrana also offered. "I have so much more to say, but for now, tickets are available online at NitroCircus.com." CN CYCLE GEAR TO ACQUIRE REVZILLA A ccording to a February 4 report by Reuters, Cycle Gear Inc. is close to sealing a deal to acquire RevZilla, a Philadelphia-based motor- cycle gear retailer. Sources say that the deal is expected to be closed within a matter of days, and will result in the creation of a company valued at between $400-500 million (including debt). California-based Cycle Gear, which has over 100 stores in 34 states, is reportedly eager to expand its online presence, and hopes to ac- complish that with the young thriving company. RevZilla's YouTube page alone – host to a variety of motorcycle product reviews and videos that have helped drive its sales north of $100 million – boasts over 180,000 subscribers and has logged more than 50 million views. At present, RevZilla is home to an estimated 140 employees. It was named "Emerging Business of the Year" by the Greater Philidelphia Chamber of Commerce in 2012, and was named "IT Innovator of the Year" by the Greater Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technology in 2014.
