STEWART CONTINUES
TO RECOVER
Y
oshimura Suzuki's James Stewart is still re-
covering from the concussion he suffered at
the January 9 Anaheim 1 Supercross. As a result,
Stewart sat out the February 6 Arizona Supercross
and his return is still uncertain.
He pulled out of the January 23 Anaheim 2
Supercross, complaining of blurry vision.
And the team's Blake Baggett is still recover-
ing from a bruised shoulder that he suffered at
the Oakland Supercross. With both riders on the
mend, the team did not make the trip to Arizona.
"After retiring from the race with vision problems
in Oakland, we encouraged James to undergo
further testing and make sure he is 100 percent
healthy before returning to racing," said Mike
Webb, team manager for Yoshimura Suzuki. "And
Blake took a big hit to the same shoulder he just
had surgery on [in Oakland]. Fortunately, he hasn't
re-broken the shoulder, however, it is deeply
bruised and at this point he only has limited range
of motion. Blake is fairly confident that he should
be ready to go by the following round in San Di-
ego." CN

MEANWHILE, AT THE ISLE OF MAN…
S
o what do you do if you're
living in the world mecca for
road racing—the Isle of Man—
and there's not much action
going on? Well, if you're local
mechanics David Anderson and
Mathew Hine, you figure out a
way to break the mobility scooter
world record, that's what.
The two mad dudes were
originally equipped with a
garden-variety Days Strider mo-
bility scooter, which is good for
about 8 mph. Clearly that was
no good for a crack at the title,
so they fitted a four-cylinder, liq-
uid-cooled (unknown displace-
ment), Suzuki road bike engine,
fitted go-kart tires, a drag racing
wheelie bar and headed for the
drag strip.
The result? An incredible 107.6
mph over the quarter-mile,
easily eclipsing the old mark of
71.59 mph. Check out the video
here. CN
