SERIES VOL. 53 ISSUE 3 JANUARY 26, 2016 P59 My Own Race: 1 IVAN RAMIREZ 7TH O/A The first race wearing the number-one plate didn't go as Ivan Ramirez hoped. After leading at the bomb, he simply couldn't find his rhythm and opted to back it down to see if he could regain his form and shake off his arm pump, but that didn't happen and he had to settle for seventh. "I was just feeling tight and not too confident so I was like, 'Just relax and ride.' I feel like it was a rough day for me. I haven't felt that tight in a long time. I just wanted to keep it on two wheels and ride smart. I wasn't able to be on the podium or in the top five, but the bike actually felt really, really good. It was just me." X281 NICK STOVER 9 TH O/A 1ST FMF PRO 250 "It was a really good day!" 3 Bros./Clean Suspension/ Maxima KTM 250 XC-mounted Nick Stover said, though he did display evidence of one big crash. "The front end slid out on one of the faster sections on the second loop and I just happened to fall into a bunch of rocks. It cut up the [left] grip, cut up the arm. Hurt a little bit at the end, but it's all right." N591 NICOLE BRADFORD 57 O/A 1ST WOMAN A The last time former Women A/B champ Nicole Bradford raced a National was last year's Winter Classic, which she won, repeating the feat this year despite not riding her dirt bike during the typical snowy Colorado winter. "You don't practice other than we own Timbersleds now, which is pretty cool, so I've been out on those about three times," the Moose Racing KTM racer said. Of her winning race, she said, "Actually, I started off really well, wasn't hav- ing any troubles. Then about 20 miles into the first loop I dumped it on the technical stuff, which is not character- istic of me! The last loop was just kind of cruise it home." Sharon Mowell and Anna Cody finished second and third in the class, respectively.
