WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

250SX WEST
"It was an okay race," Osborne said of his second-place
finish. "I got off to maybe a top-five or-six place start and
there was some carnage there in the beginning, so I was just
trying to stay clean. I got into third and those two guys [Webb
and Craig] started really duking it out there at the front, and
I thought something was going to happen, so I kind of just
sat there for a minute when I probably should've been maybe
going a little harder. Then Cooper passed Christian and got
a little gap so I could get by him. I threw away a second last
week at San Diego, so I didn't want to do the same tonight,
so I feel good about it. I feel the best I've ever been. My fit-
ness is good; I mean, all the pieces are there, I'm putting it
together the best I ever have—there is light at the end of the
tunnel now, so I feel good about it. My speed was good, but
I just rode a little tight in the Heat race and that made me a
little nervous in the Main."

GEICO Honda's Jimmy Decotis grabbed the holseshot
in the 250SX Main but got shuffled back to seventh
before the first lap was over. He fought back up to fourth
but surrendered the position to Joey Savatgy on the very
last lap! "The beginning of the day was bad," Decotis
said of his day. "I struggled in practice, but we made a
bike change and I felt awesome for the night show. My
Heat race was great, and then I got the holeshot in the
Main event. I'm struggling with the first few laps. I'm just
getting eaten up; I have to work on that. My last lap was
a bad lap and Joey got me. Fifth place is okay, but not
great because it should have been fourth. I'm a little
bummed on it."

"Overall it was an up and down day," said Monster
Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy. "I was fast
qualifier in first practice and ended third overall heading
into the night show. My heat race went well, though I didn't
quite get the holeshot, I pushed into the lead right away
and ended up taking the win in the second Heat. In the
Main event I had another good start and was in the lead
for a brief period, but made a small mistake and dropped
back to second. Over the next couple laps I started to
reel in first place, and was closing the gap well enough to
where I knew in the next couple laps I'd be able to make
the pass. I ended up having to change my line in the
whoops because of a downed rider; I caught an edge, lost
control and went down. I quickly got back up and was able
to minimize the damage, then made a few passes back
to fourth. All in all it isn't the result I want, but we'll get it.
We're getting faster, qualifying better, and we're closer to
the Main event race pace."
