P106 50 Years Ago January 27, 1966 Our big feature story 50 years ago was our race coverage of the European Desert Scrambles held in the Mojave Desert, which was co-hosted by the Spokebenders and Greyhound Motorcycle Clubs. One of the big winners was Ron Nelson in the 500cc Expert division… The Sinners Elsinore TT Scrambles got a lot of ink. Dusty Coppage was a big winner, and Don Ogilvie and Malcolm Smith were among the front-runners… We also talked about Earl Roeseler, Don Vesco and Jim Hunter and their racing plans for 1966. 40 Years Ago January 27, 1976 We featured a preview of the upcoming Grand National Championship Series, focusing on riders like Gary Scott, Kenny Roberts, Mert Lawwill, Jay Springsteen, and the factory teams… We covered the opening round of the W/ERA Series in Arizona… Larry Roeseler won a hare and hound race in California that was hosted by the San Bernardino MC.
