MILLER BREAKS LEG
IN TRAINING
A
ustralian Jack Miller's par-
ticipation at the upcoming
Sepang MotoGP test is in doubt
following a crash while practic-
ing motocross that has left him
with a broken right leg in Spain.
Miller was forced to shut
off on the approach to a triple
jump after the rider in front lost
control—he didn't crash but the
subsequent impact broke the
tibia and fibula of his
right leg, and he was
transported to the
Dexues Institute in
Barcelona where he
had both bones plated
and screwed.
Ever the joker, Miller took to
twitter to denounce the impor-
tance of the injury, saying, "(the)
right foot to ride is way overrat-
ed—I use too much rear brake
anyway!" CN
GUY MARTIN OUT OF TT 2016
G
uy Martin will not compete at the 2016 Isle
of Man TT, instead deciding to come to the
U.S and compete in the Tour Divide, an extreme
mountain bike race that starts in the Canadian
Rockies and finishes in the badlands of the
Mexican Plateau. The date of the Tour Divide is
the same as that of the 2016 TT, and with rumors
circulating that Martin's recent crash at the 2015
Ulster Grand Prix had more than a slight effect on
his desire to continue road racing, it's not entirely
surprising he's decided on a different racing path
for 2016.
At this stage, Martin is stopping short of saying
he is hanging up the leathers entirely, but he is
clearly moving away from the TT—but with his well
known disdain for British short circuit racing, it's
unlikely we'll be seeing him race there, either.
"I'm not done with motorbikes and if I race on
the roads again this year it will be with the TAS
team," said Guy Martin, talking with the Isle of
Man TT website. "The BMW bikes are mega and
the team are spot on."
Martin's appetite for races with a
difference includes racing at the 2014
Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on
his home-brewed Martek, a turbo Suzuki
GSX-R1100 machine punching out over
300hp that he took out in the Exhibition
class, an event he said at the time was
the most fun he's ever had racing motor-
cycles – so don't be surprised if you see
him back on our famous mountain, even
if he's moving away from the one that
made him famous at the Isle of Man.
Miller is now in a race against time to
be fit for MotoGP preseason testing.
Could this Supersport race two podium at
the 2015 TT be Martin's last? One thing's for
sure, he won't be there this year.
