AMA SUPERMOTO CHAMPIONSHIP
SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
T
he AMA Supermoto Championship, an AMA
National Championship, will feature six rounds
of competition this year and make its return to
television screens across the country.
"AMA Supermoto continues to grow in popularity
and the AMA is encouraged by the growth not only
nationally, but internationally," said Ken Saillant,
AMA Track Racing Manager. "The 2016 schedule
offers our competitors an opportunity to race at
many of the premier racing venues throughout the
country and Canada."
In addition to being sanctioned by the AMA, two
rounds of the series are sanctioned by FIM North
America, which includes the AMA and the Cana-
dian Motorcycle Association. Riders will have the
opportunity to earn AMA championship points at
every round of the series. However, the Loudon,
New Hampshire, and Quebec City, Canada rounds
will also allow riders to earn points towards an FIM
North America championship.
The series will return to TV this season, after
an eight-year absence. The Quebec City, Canada
main event will be featured globally. Three addi-
tional rounds will be featured on MAVTV Motors-
ports Networks with six episodes and a total of 12
airings. Unit Productions, directed by motorcycle
TV personality, race reporter and Executive Pro-
ducer Greg White, will produce the coverage.
"We're really happy to bring Supermoto back
to TV for the fans, the teams, the competitors,
the sponsors and motorcycle enthusiasts alike,"
said Matt Stewart of USA Pro Supermoto. "Being
back on TV is one of the keys to keep the sport on
track with its continued growth since our partner-
ship with the AMA that reestablished the National
Championship in 2014. We are also excited to be
working with Executive Producer Greg White, who
has a lot of experience with race coverage." CN
