CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "What a great ambassador Nicky Hayden has been, and is, for our country." Nicky Hayden First, I really enjoy Cycle News. I remember back in the '80s when it was my primary source racing of news. The online format holds out well in the digital age. I'm really writing about Nicky Hayden. Throughout the world there are so many people who have negative views of the USA. What a great ambassador Nicky Hayden has been, and is, for our country. Most Ameri- cans have no idea who Nicky is. The sport of motorcycle racing is just not mainstream in his country. Yet he's known all around the world. His humble and respectful attitude is just what we need to show the rest of the world. Thanks Nicky. Good luck in World Superbike. Mark McConnell Best Year Ever For Ducati I have always been a huge fan of Ducati and own a 1995 900ss. I like the Scrambler concept and think the coming 400cc version will open up more doors for them with wom- en and new riders. I do think that the rest of the line has been chasing technology and performance while driving the prices too high. This is good for the Panigale, but the Monster has lost its essence. It started as a raw bike, redefining the naked category, or maybe even pioneering it—an engine caged in a trellis frame with a com- fortable moto-inspired seating position. On the late models, you can't even see the engine. Then you read the reviews on how the horsepower and sus- pension are tuned to improve track performance. The Mon- ster is not a track bike. Not that a rider can't do a track day, but the target for that bike should be urban assault and canyons. It should remain a bit raw yet friendly and have the ability for two-up riding. I loved the Monsters from mid-90s to about four years ago. Anyway, still a huge Ducati fan. Love the history, the sound and the torque curve. Great to see the growth. Andrew Siminoff Suzuki Seamless Shifting Gearbox Maverick Vinales will be some- one to watch next year! Good to see Suzuki stepping up. Jeff Mills Dakar Updates Kudos Cycle News. Not enough fan pages/news sources give factual Dakar updates for the better interest of the sport/rider/fans. Much respect. Adam "Gunnslinger" Gunn SX Boo Birds Way to go Jason Anderson, you are now an official contender with that performance [at the Anaheim supercross]. On the other side I was very disap- pointed for our sport: First with the fans booing for the red flag and then for the fight shown worldwide. Of those two incidents I was most upset with the so-called fans that booed. Really! WTH! To boo when the race is red flagged for the safe- ty of a downed rider speaks volumes of the idiots that were in attendance. Pathetic!
