SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD ROUND 1 / JANUARY 9, 2016 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA / ANGEL STADIUM OF ANAHEIM P60 My Own Race: 14 COLE SEELY 3 RD 450 "It was a good ride, and it was a long day and it was the first race after my injury," Seely said. "I had three months off the bike, off the bicycle, gym and everything, I've only been riding supercross since November 14. It's been tough, but it might be good for me. I'll peak later in the season where these guys might be peaking right now, so I'm looking for- ward to the later rounds. I got the holeshot, I think it was me and Eli, I didn't want to make that aggressive of a move on him, but I had to shut him out so he wouldn't have the line in the next turn, then it was just a matter of running my laps and keeping my pace, then as the track broke down, the nerves got to me a little bit—I've had a nervous stomach all day long. Jason just inched his way from me and rode a little bit better of a race. I made a big mistake after that and Dungey caught me and passed me and held on for third." 3 ELI TOMAC 4 TH 450 Eli Tomac made his debut on the Monster Energy Kawasaki Team and it was his first race since his big crash at the Colora- do National MX, which resulted in Tomac having double shoul- der surgery. Tomac looked fast on the bike but a little rusty at times. He got good starts but seemed to get a little rattled in the first few laps before settling in and finding his groove. He won his heat race then cracked the top-five with a fourth in the Main. "It was just a solid day," Tomac said. "In practice we had to make some suspension stuff. The gate position was really important tonight because of that split start, the inside was a huge advantage; luckily I was in a good spot for that. I lucked out with the red flag because I got shuffled back there a bit. The second one, I pretty much had the holeshot but just went in a little too hot. Once I got going, I felt decent; I just need to work on a few things. I didn't get crazy tight but I got a little bit fatigued and Dungey crept up and passed, and Anderson. Other than that, considering the time off, I think it was a pretty good day. Just getting in there racing with the guys was the biggest thing; race pace is always different than practicing." 19 JUSTIN BOGLE 13 TH 450 GEICO Honda's Justin Bogle made his debut in the 450 class and had his bike running near the front at times through out the night but ultimately slipped back to 13 th in the Main. Bogle was also riding with a broken foot that he suffered just four weeks ago. "It's not my best, but not my worst," Bogle said of his day. "I got through the first one and I'm really happy about that, but at the same time, that was the most frustrating race of my entire life. I felt that my starts were really good, I'm just not really there speed-wise quite yet. It got a little hectic, but it was nice to run up there with those guys. I learned a lot tonight. I got a good start in the Main but got shuffled back pretty quickly. It's a gnarly class, I learned probably too much. I'll be able to put it up there pretty soon. Just a few things to work on. The cool thing is that there are a lot more of these things [races]."
