OFF ROAD ROCKY MOUNTAIN MC WORLD OFF-ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES, ROUND 1 / JANUARY 9-10, 2016 HONOLULU HILLS RACEWAY / TAFT, CALIFORNIA P68 Jones, on the OX Motorsports Honda, had a difficult start and had to ride through the field before briefly taking over the lead. After surrender- ing the lead back to Bell, he held on to second place throughout the two hour-long race to secure the second spot on the podium. "I got a really terrible start, but I came through the pack pretty quickly," said Jones. "I was feeling some pressure from Blayne and I was challenging Robby, but I think I started my charge a little too late. It's going to be great competition this year." Thompson recovered from a crash late in the race and rebounded to grab the last spot on the podium, but he had to fight off Justin Seeds on the final lap to do it. "I went down and I ended up back in fifth," said Thompson. "I just had to push and I came up third. Justin Seeds caught me on the last lap; I told myself to turn it up, and I just pulled away. This is a huge confi- dence booster from 2015, and we'll try to carry this all year." Rocky Mountain MC/Maxxis' Justin Seeds spun off the gate and didn't get a great start. He put on a charge, though, and eventually caught Thompson on the final lap. He had the podium on his mind, but his hopes for a spot on the box were dashed when he went down during that final go-around, but held on to claim the fourth spot "The race was gnarly!" said Justin Jones kept Bell honest through out the race. (Below) Jones held the lead for a bit but would ultimately have to settle for second place.
