ROUND 1 / JANUARY 9, 2016 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA / ANGEL STADIUM OF ANAHEIM P62 SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP t Briefly... After heavy rain drenched Southern California and with more light rain in the forecast, many people were ex- pecting a "mudder" Saturday night, but the exact opposite happened. The rain stayed away and the track could not have been much better, though it did rut up in places. This year's track featured a split starting line (separated by a step-up tabletop jump) that definitely benefitted the left side, making top finishes in the Heat races that much more impor- tant. Just ask Ken Roczen. Monster Energy Kawasaki's Wil Hahn made it through the day. It was A1 last year when he crashed during practice and sat out most of the se- ries. He suffered another injury later in 2015 but returned to A1 healthy, although he wasn't super pleased with his 17 th -place finish in the Main. "It was up and down today," a disap- point Hahn said. "I struggled with my comfort all day long; the track was soft, especially between the rhythms, but I'm happy to leave here healthy. But it's hard to take away the positives when I finished where I didn't belong. I have to get better starts and qualify better." Former 250SX champs Justin Bo- gle and Marvin Musquin made their 450SX debut at Anaheim. Both rid- ers had quiet nights but got through the evening unscathed, which was of high importance for both. They actually found themselves battling each other all night long. Bogle and Musquin went 1-2 in their semi, and then they battled in the Main, with Bogle getting 13 th and Musquin 14 th . Also making his 450SX debut was Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Christophe Pourcel. The Frenchman came out swinging by reeling off the quickest lap time in the first practice session and ended up second quickest overall (behind Trey Canard) but he went silent from there on out. He transferred to the Main via a semi, then finished 18 th in the final. The Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki Team made its debut at Anaheim I with Kyle Cunningham and Mark Worth competing in the 250 West Series (Jimmy Albertson and Josh Osby will take on the East), but it didn't get off to a great start. Worth, one of the hot stars emerging from the amateur ranks, crashed on the first lap of practice, injuring his hip area. The team said they don't be- lieve the injury is serious and hope that he'll be back soon. Cunningham went on to finish 19 th in the Main. HRC Honda's Trey Canard started off the day with the quickest 450SX lap time of the day and was running third in the Main before crashing off the track on the 13 th lap. He had to settle for seventh. 450SX Class 1. Jason Anderson (Hus) 2. Ryan Dungey (KTM) 3. Cole Seely (Hon) 4. Eli Tomac (Kaw) 5. Ken Roczen (Suz) 6. Chad Reed (Yam) 7. Trey Canard (Hon) 8.
