WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 53 ISSUE 1 JANUARY 12, 2016 P61 94 KEN ROCZEN 5 TH 450 RCH/Soaring Eagle/Jimmy John's Suzuki's Ken Roczen had a tough night, most of which had to do with a nasty first-turn crash in his heat race. The bike needed repairs and he re- turned for the semi and got third after a bad start. With a poor gate pick, Roczen had to start on the non-desirable right side of the gate. Another bad start led to a second-turn fall, but he worked his way up to fifth by the time it was all over. "It was a very, very rough night for me," said Roczen. "In the Main, my start wasn't that great. I was pretty far to the outside so that made it tough. I tried to cut to the inside and went down in the second turn so I had to come from dead last and pass guys one by one. I think it turned out to be a decent ride. We got up to fifth and salvaged some decent points. It's a big confidence builder for the whole team to come from dead last and finish fifth. Obviously, it's not where we want to be but it is what it is for this night. Luck was definitely not on our side tonight so I'm glad to come out of here healthy. A lot of people crashed." 21 JASON ANDERSON 1 ST 450 Jason Anderson didn't turn any heads after the afternoon's timed qualifying. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team rider barely cracked the top 10. He was a full second of Trey Canard's pace, but he certainly found that one second and then some once the things got down to business. He said he had at least one section in particular down that he said really helped him out in the main. As you can imagine, he was pretty stocked to get his first 450SX victory. "I got my first win!" said Anderson. "Tonight was awesome. I got off decent in the first start, but then they red-flagged it so I was a little bummed. My second start was mediocre, but I just started making my way forward and eventually took the win. I'm so pumped. The guys I was passing were waxing me last year, so to even be battling with them was a cool deal." 16 ZACH OSBORNE 3 RD 250 Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Zach Osborne had many predicting that he might win the 250SX main after posting the second-quickest 250 times in practice; he was just half a second of Cooper Webb's best time. Osborne then had his fans really excited when he won his Heat race. Osborne, however, didn't get the start he wanted in the Main. He started off in fifth but worked his way up to third. "Today was a good day for the whole team," said Osborne. "It's awesome for us to leave Anaheim 1 with Jason earning the red plate and me landing on the podium with third in the championship. I had good lap times all day. I went out and won my Heat race, and rode a little conservative in the main event but still pulled off a podium so it's been a great day." Last year at A1, Os- borne broke his thumb, so he was excited to come away from this one with a podium finish and, most importantly, healthy.
